Les vins de Gaja
Histoire
La cave Gaja est chargée d'histoire, puisqu'elle remonte à 1859, date de sa fondation par Giovanni Gaja. La famille a commencé par produire du vin pour sa taverne, puis a acquis divers terrains jusqu'à ce qu'elle commence à produire des vins à Barbaresco, en Italie.
En 1961, l'arrière-petit-fils de Giovanni Gaja, Angelo Gaja, commence sa carrière dans l'entreprise. S'appuyant sur le succès du Barbaresco phare (Wine Spectator a nommé les Barbarescos 1985 "les meilleurs vins jamais produits en Italie"), le flair fougueux et stylé d'Angelo Gaja pour la production et la commercialisation a généré un succès réputé auprès des critiques et des consommateurs pour d'autres variétés de vins, notamment les Chardonnays et les Cabernets Sauvignons.

La cave a commencé avec un humble cinq acres et, au fil des ans, a acquis de multiples vignobles dans les régions du Piémont, de Montalcino et de Bolgheri en Toscane, en Italie, et produit un total de 18 vins différents. Célébrant son 150e anniversaire en 2009, la cave Gaja est considérée comme l'un des meilleurs producteurs de vin en Italie, en grande partie grâce à la vision et à la passion du propriétaire de la 5e génération, Angelo Gaja. Son désir de produire les meilleurs vins de qualité, une tâche ambitieuse, l'a conduit à repousser les limites des pratiques de vinification, notamment en ce qui concerne le Nebbiolo et l'utilisation de la barrique afin d'obtenir un adoucissement des tanins et une pleine expression du fruit. Des pratiques révolutionnaires associées à une vision personnelle dynamique, Gaja est l'exemple parfait d'une cave qui a continué à évoluer au-delà de son produit de base, le Barbaresco primé, pour devenir un producteur complet de vins de qualité supérieure.
