Limitrophe du Château Beychevelle, le domaine Branaire-Ducru s'étend sur une parcelle de 50 hectares située sur des graves du Quaternaire. Le château, connu depuis le XVIIe siècle et élevé au rang de 4e cru en 1855, est considéré comme l'un des plus importants de la région viticole de Saint-Julien. La cave moderne est équipée de systèmes gravitaires (sans pompage) qui garantissent la préservation de l'intégrité du fruit.
Le Château Branaire-Ducru est un assemblage bordelais classique à majorité de cabernet-sauvignon, avec des ajouts de merlot, de petit-verdot et de cabernet-franc. Les raisins proviennent de plants âgés en moyenne de 35 ans (certains ont même plus de 100 ans), plantés sur un sol alluvial graveleux-siliceux du Quaternaire, reconnu comme l'un des terroirs les plus chauds de la région, particulièrement propice au développement de cépages à maturité tardive comme le cabernet-sauvignon.
Le vin révèle une couleur rouge profonde et intense aux reflets grenat. Son profil aromatique est frais et complexe, avec des notes de fruits rouges mûrs et quelques nuances épicées et chocolatées. En bouche, il est solide, puissant, charnu mais aussi équilibré. C'est un vin frais et mûr, dense et rafraîchissant qui accompagne très bien les viandes rouges grillées.
